Drugs committee recommends decriminalisation and potential legalisation of cannabis cultivation

Image: Shutterstock A REPORT BY the Oireachtas Justice Committee has recommended the decriminalisation of drugs for personal use as well as a host of other policies which could see the legalisation of the cultivation of cannabis for personal use.

“Among these areas include the potential to decriminalise the possession of certain amounts of drugs for personal use; the potential to introduce a regulatory model He said: “The policy of this government to criminalise drug users is archaic and incompatible with a health led approach to drugs. We welcome the decision to accept this motion, however we call on the government to get serious about sensible drug policy and to set a date for a Citizens’ Assembly on drugs without any further delay.

About time!

Legalise it, tax it and take money out of dealers pockets. People will continue to smoke it regardless. Alcohol is a way more dangerous drug as well so if that’s legal so should weed be 🤷🏻‍♂️

It's getting to the point now that rather than being the odd country in the world that has legalised it we will someday be the odd ones out for not legalising it and that day is coming faster than anyone thinks

We don’t care what you do, our personal choices are not yours to make.

Legalise it. Regulate it. Tax it.

Legalise the wacky tobacco but criminalise tobacco… makes perfect sense 🫠
