Proposed law change on funding of arbitration may lead to similar model for litigation

A recent move to allow for third-party funding of arbitration in Ireland may be used as a template for developing laws to allow people to fund litigation, a leading dispute resolution lawyer has said.

Caoilfhionn Ní Chuanacháin, a partner at Addleshaw Goddard, said a recently proposed legislative change allowed the justice minister to prescribe “criteria” for third party funding contracts in arbitration cases.
