Metzger's defended the move, saying 'all of our staff are people with rights who deserve dignity.'

A restaurant in Richmond, Virginia, refused to host a private event for a conservative Christian organization over the group's position on same-sex marriage and abortion rights.

"Recently we refused service to a group that had booked an event with us after the owners of Metzger found out it was a group of donors to a political organization that seeks to deprive women and LGBTQ+ persons of their basic human rights in Virginia," the establishment said in a recentThe move was consistent with Metzger's past practices and was made out of respect for its staff, according to the post.

It added that it strives for a work environment where it staff"can do their jobs with dignity, comfort and safety." "Have you ever been denied a meal because of your beliefs? Last night, our team and supporters got that firsthand experience when Metzger's Bar and Butchery in Richmond, VA refused to service our pre-reserved event, leaving us scrambling just moments before," Victoria Cobb wrote.

Discriminación discrimination

'All of our staff are people with rights who deserve dignity and a safe work environment.'

Good, what goes around comes around

LOVE IT!

I know all the godless Christ haters in here think Christians care and should be offended by this but we’re not. Every knee shall bow and every tongue will confess Jesus Christ is lord of all

The restaurant, Metzger Bar and Butchery I just wanted to point this out so people don’t by mistake go in there and support a bias and racist establishment

That’s fine. A business can do as they please. Goes both ways.

It's sad when Nazis can't get a table.

Blatant discrimination

Simple fix, pick another restaurant that values money over their beliefs. Life goes on. Capitalism strives when the open market services the money over someone’s beliefs

As a Christian myself , good for the business, it has that right but the lgbt radical Christ haters can’t do the same

I want hard core proof that same sex marriage is of god.

If a baker has to bake a cake for someone they disagree with, then this restaurant has to host an event for someone they disagree with. Yes, that’s fair and equal.

No problem find another restaurant to spend your money at.

What’s good for the goose …

if only some baker didn't fuck things up for everyone

That's fine. They aren't refusing service based on religion. I am sure they have other Christian organizations that they provide service to. They are refusing service based on the organization's advocacy against the human rights of other people. That is not illegal.

And lemme guess….the geeohpee is pissed about this, correct?

No one should be discrimated against whether I agree with them or not

Reply’s failing to acknowledge each other. Always gotta be about evening up the score. We’re all just ants in a jar that Someone keeps shaking.

Time to sue them

I'm ok with this as long as it can go in the opposite direction without repercussions

what comes around goes around

This may help:

Good for them

It goes both ways. Or we can compromise and treat all people equal. But I doubt it.

Wonder if they can survive with only WOKE clientele?

Republicans: 'Businesses have the right to refuse service to gays!!' Also republicans: 'How dare they try and refuse service to us!!'

Yet, the SC is deciding on a Christian who does want to be forced to do something that's against her Religion. Hypocrisy

Good!

Okay, am pretty sure there are other restaurants that would appreciate their business. When a business refuses service of any group, move on. There are others who will provide the service.

Business’ should have a right to refuse service. No matter what side you are on. Things will work themselves out if people refuse to go to said business these types of businesses will go under. Problem solved!

Surely they can find a chick fil a 🤷🏻‍♂️

Wait a second here, I thought the liberals were just saying everyone must be served anywhere.

They didn’t “refuse service” to anybody. They declined to book a private event. Huge difference. Inflammatory, FOX-like headline.

Seems only fair, given the bigotry conservatives foist upon others.

Islamic republic of iran just killed another 21year old Kurdish boy from Sanandaj He was in his house when a large number of Islamic republic brutes attacked him and brutally killed him Infront of his family his name is Houman_abdullahi MahsaAmini

Good for them. If so called Christians can use religion to not provide services for transgenders, gays, etc. like they are pleading at the Supreme Court then the shoe can be on the other foot also.

If you think a business should be allowed to discriminate against LGBTQ+ people, you should be okay with this.

Perfect

great ! ..you make less money in these cesspool times

Hey, remember that baker who didn't want to bake a cake for a gay couple, uno reverse..

Good for them 👍

Good for them!

It really is a one way street.

Yup. And?

it's totally justified to discriminate against Christians.

Violates federal law

So this is discrimination right? They can be sued?

Virginia restaurant refuses service to conservative religious group because of its views on abortion, LGBTQ issuesMetzger Bar and Butchery in Richmond, Va., canceled The Family Foundation's planned event after learning of the group's stance on abortion rights and LGBTQ people. Something about turnabout being fair-play I mean - why didn’t they just spit in their food like regular? Why make this fuss? About time to give these people a taste of their own medicine

Supreme Court grapples with Christian business owner’s objection to Colorado’s pro-LGBTQ lawThe Supreme Court grappled Monday with balancing free speech against gay rights, hearing a case involving a Colorado website designer who says she shouldn’t be compelled to violate the tenets of her faith by creating products for same-sex marriages. Speech is a right. I support her Civil rights used to be about treating everyone the same. But today some people are so used to special treatment that equal treatment is considered to be discrimination.
