The amended version of the legislation must be approved by the full Senate and then go back to the House of Commons before it becomes law. It if does pass into law, it would be up to the CRTC to decide how to implement the age verification requirement. “The age verification requirements added to Bill C-11 today raise serious constitutional concerns,” said University of Ottawa law professor Vivek Krishnamurthy.

“Everyone wants to protect children from age-inappropriate content, but requiring Canadians to prove their age before accessing such content poses unacceptable privacy risks.”

I am totally shocked that a law processor would be against this…I am shocked that anyone would be against this! Wow!!

Justin won't be happy

More government rules in every aspect of life. How appropriate that the kind of person who wants to defer all decision making and responsibility to their metaphorical parental overlord is also incapable of providing that guidance in their actual role as a parent.

My concern is the inevitable exploitation of the database… besides it being a massive government overreach in personal affairs

Then I guess they should make the age of consent the same age that gender dysphoric kids can consent to puberty blockers and sex reassignment surgery.

And the Senate once again demonstrates its utter uselessness.

I am no fan of the current government, but I fully support this. To not have ANY safeguards for children browsing the Internet is patently insane.

Can we not do better as parents and mentors to our children? I’m not going to pretend my 3 year old will be perfect a decade or so from now, but I’ll be damned if he doesn’t learn to respect all people. Especially women. Monitor your child’s online activity.

That'll piss off Trudeau

Profound. That must be that sober second thought kicking in… SenateCA

So this passed with 7 opposing it and only 5 supporting it Ether your mad or this is overt corruption

There is a lot more to worry about than just porno.

so junior just clicks on 'yes I am 18' my question is why are you even including this in this bill? waste of time..
