Indonesia has approved strict new rules that will outlaw infidelity in the country - even for tourists.

The country has been warned that the new laws will have a devastating impact on foreign investment

Tourism groups have warned the ban will adversely impact the tourism industry. Currently, experts predict Bali alone will reach six million visitors a year by 2025. Police will also investigate adultery charges reported by a spouse, parent or child and with gay marriage still not allowed, the situation is unclear for foreign nationals in same sex unions.Legal experts say that an article in the code on customary law could reinforce discriminatory and sharia-inspired bylaws at a local level, and pose a particular threat to LGBTQ+ people.
