New South Wales Premier Dominic Perrottet has defended the sentencing of climate activist Deanna"Violet" Coco after criticism from human rights advocates.
The sentence caught the attention of senior UN official, Clement Voule, who said he was"alarmed" by the news. “If protesters want to put our way of life at risk, then they should have the book thrown at them and that’s pleasing to see,” Mr Perrottet said on Monday. On Friday Ms Coco pleaded guilty to seven charges, which included possessing a distress signal in a public place and interfering with safe operation of a bridge.
None of you here celebrating the crackdown on unsanctioned protests deserve to be free. You’re all a bunch of spineless drones who care more for your prison wardens and daily routines than you do planetary health for your own grandchildren. Fucking pathetic.
