The Supreme Court on Monday will consider whether a web designer’s refusal to produce same-sex-union sites violates public-accommodation law.

Hurley v. Irish-American Gay, Lesbian and Bisexual Group of Boston

Colorado responds that even if the websites Smith wants to produce are expressive — she has not actually accepted commission for one to avoid running afoul of the law — she is conflating free speech with selling a product. The state’s residents should not have to worry about whether a business will reject them “because of who they are.”

Smith, the state says, is free to offer “only websites that include biblical quotes describing marriage as the union of one man and one woman.” But then the company “must sell whatever it offers to customers regardless of their race, religion, sexual orientation, or other protected characteristic . . . Both believers and atheists can choose to buy its websites with biblical quotes.”

It is also not enough that other companies would provide similar marriage services to same-sex couples, the state says. The court made that clear decades ago, ruling against a motel that wanted to serve only White guests and a restaurant owner who said an integrated dining room would violate his religious beliefs.responds that “throwing in racism is simply an attempt to shut down the debate and frankly it’s offensive to malign people like that.

The LGBT attack on Christians continues

Does shedo adulterers weddings? Forgetting what Jesus said, whatever God joined together, let no man put asunder? As long as they remain in their adultery, they live in sin I bet the answer is NO.That sin is acceptable 4 her.

If she wins this, how does it not give everybody else the right to refuse doing a Christian wedding cake or a Christian website? Or a cake for an interracial marriage that your religion is against?

I don't support discrimination, but I'm genuinely curious about those who think the court should rule against her. Suppose you're a web designer and you're asked to make a website for a 'de-transitioning' / 'pray the gay away' camp for kids. Should you be compelled to do it?

Ironic it says BE KIND in this photo.

If they allow this....what's to stop a store owner from serving....blacks,jews,Mexicans...where do you draw the line on prejudice....

Like being 'FORCE-FED' When You Ain't Hungry! 'Bah; & Humbug!' She's free to say 'NO' whenever she wants!

It does. Next.

And the Vote is 6-3 ELECTIONS MATTER!

Guess they graduated from cake baking? Now the cry babies are are after website designers? Must have money to burn from Democrats who have money to burn from kickbacks.

If you are a gay couple needing a website for your wedding - we’d be honored to do it -

You can’t make a freelancer take a job they don’t want to. And you wouldn’t want them to do the job if they were forced. There’s plenty of people who will design same-sex wedding websites. This is dumb.

Freedom of Religion is in the constitution. Freedom to compel service is not.

NThe theory being used by this person could also be used to refuse service to interracial, couples, interfaith, couples, or even people who’ve been married and divorced before! I’m sure the Supreme Court will gladly let this happen

Why does this Supreme Court certify insignificant Judge Judy type disputes?

Money is money if you cannot accept money from a customer why not quit business altogether.

The reality is, the Supreme Court will almost certainly rule in her favor; probably the best we can hope for is a narrow ruling.

I think it does not violate public accomodation law and let this not be seen as 'Sub judice' if i say that a web designer has all the rights not to promote something he doesn't believe in or subscribe to.That is within his fundamental right. They can seek another designer.

CyrusToulabi JFC 🧐 “the [C]ourt … declined to hear Smith’s claim … [n]or did it agree to hear her request … [i]nstead, the justices propose to answer this question …” AllianceDefendingFreedom judicialActivism

What a waste of energy over discrimination, isn't it?

God’s will be done . The faithful will be victorious. Never bend the knee to Satan

Sadly, the Supreme Court, I fear, will side with her on the basis of religious freedom protection. They are all about discrimination now.

The comments here are ignorant and have ZERO to do with the actual case. Please read the damn article and ask someone if you don’t understand.

In Colorado, businesses don't reserve the right to refuse services for any reason?

I get it's not cool, but how can you force her to make a site she doesn't want to make ha.

Well, according to republicans, she should both refuse to do it, and be forced by the federal government to do it. Very confusing times for them.

Amazing how many people don’t know that nazi’s, kkk ect. aren’t a protected class.

This should be Lgbt's flag

Hmmm, let me guess which way this Extreme Court will decide. 'Partisan Hacks.'

How is a business cutting ties with an actor / actress holding political views they don’t like ok but this is not? Please explain.

If she wants the protections of an LLC, she has to follow the rules. These people are always asserting their “freedom” while on the dole one way or the other. It’s always a con with them.

You cannot force someone to go against their convictions and beliefs. The gay agenda is to FORCE everyone to abandon their faith and condone/accept/approve of their lifestyle. I hope she wins! Go somewhere else & quit suing people to force them to violate their faith. Disgusting!

What is wrong with these people forcing their sins onto others

Colorado is very narrowly interpreting what free speech is and it doesn’t apply here. SCOTUS will rule in her favor.

U.S. Supreme Court to hear arguments in Colorado same-sex discrimination caseThe case of an evangelical Christian designer from Colorado who refuses to build websites for same-sex couples lands in the U.S. Supreme Court for oral arguments. There are SO MANY MORE TALENTED WEB DESIGNERS than just her (not a slight to her), but go to them for God sakes. Acting like there's only one web/graphic designer in the world is ludicrous Next week's headline: 'Supreme Court legalizes all discrimination in historic 6-3 vote' Gee I wonder how the court of ChristianShariaLaw will rule?

Supreme Court readies to weigh in on ‘most important case’ on democracyThe Supreme Court is about to confront a new elections case, a Republican-led challenge asking the justices for a novel ruling that could significantly increase the power of state lawmakers over elections for Congress and the presidency. Hmm, I wonder what they’ll decide. 🤔 “Confront”? “Confront”?! Is that how it works? The SCOTUS confronts litigants? You bunch of hacks. Trib Pravda. The states regulate elections. The only threat to democracy would be allowing that patented IL election fraud which installed Biden into a puppet WH doesn't permanently allow nationwide malfeasance.

Supreme Court weighs case on state legislatures' power over federal electionsThe Supreme Court is about to confront an elections case that could dramatically alter voting and significantly increase the power of state lawmakers over elections for Congress and the presidency. It’s where the power was always intended to be: with the states. Dems just want more central control and a huge federal government. really doesn't get it do they? It should be the power of the states the whole time. Who is running their twitter? At least read the Constitution first 😂 The Constitution gives state lawmakers full power over elections. This should come as no surprise as the federal government was created by states when they ratified the constitution. States wouldn't have signed on to federal intervention in state elections.
