Student Loan Forgiveness To Remain Blocked, Says Supreme Court, As Justices Prepare To Consider Arguments

In a brief order on Thursday, the Supreme Court indicated that it would keep the 8th Circuit’s preliminary injunction in place while it considers legal arguments regarding Biden’s loan forgiveness plan. Oral arguments are set for February, and a ruling could come any time after that. In the meantime, the student loan forgiveness program will remain suspended.

“We welcome the Supreme Court’s decision to hear the case on our student debt relief plan for middle and working class borrowers this February,” said the White House in a statement. “This program is necessary to help over 40 million eligible Americans struggling under the burden of student loan debt recover from the pandemic and move forward with their lives. The program is also legal, supported by careful analysis from administration lawyers.

to as late as June 30, 2023. However, the end-date of the student loan pause is a bit ambiguous, as the administration indicated that,“Payments will resume 60 days after the Department is permitted to implement the program or the litigation is resolved.” If the Supreme Court rules before the summer, and there is no further pending litigation regarding Biden’s loan forgiveness plan, it’s possible that payments could restart sooner than June.

Cancel my debts also! I deserve to break my promises as much as anyone; but give my share to the Native American Indians, because I believe they deserve it more than anyone else. The BLM movement has already paid themselves with about $2 billion in arson, vandalism and looting.

why cancel debt? yo took a bad loan, you pay it off...

You signed up for it, you pay it!

Why? You sucked it up, now pay for it!

Just had a thought, we forgive your student loans and then work for free for the next 50 years.

Not my problem! Accept the consequences of your actions….the way WE ALL DID!

Cancel socialism

I don't know what's happening, I think we need to start with cleaning our education system from these libs and start over from k - college. Then we can have real degrees not this crap they teach now.

It has been a lie all along to get votes in mid terms. They have always known they cannot legally authorize debt forgiveness.

Students: Don’t get into debt if you can’t afford to pay it off. Remember this when you decide to get a mortgage loan or auto loan or any loan. You are expected to pay it back. Get it?

No debt forgiveness! How can you feel like you should get forgiveness for something you spent? What about all of us that paid our loans already?

People do not need to wait for a bailout to pay off their student loans, just get on board with the Dave Ramsey plan and your student loans and all other debt will disappear. Don’t rely on others to save you, save yourself.

😂😂😂😂😂😂

Student loan forgiveness should have never happened in the first place.

Well, it’s illegal, so 🤷‍♂️
