A legal affairs analyst has told Sky News Australia the decision to abandon the Bruce Lehrmann rape retrial is"catastrophe" for the Australian justice system.

We will never know whether Bruce Lehrmann is guilty or faced unjustified accusations." The former Liberal staffer has repeatedly vehemently denied he raped Ms Higgins following a night out for work drinks in Canberra.But Mr Merritt argued while Mr Lehrmann was now a free man, he was deprived of a fair trial and would struggle to find a job in the future as his name had been tarnished from to the extensive media coverage of the case.

has the department of prosecutor asked Higgins whether she wants to pull out ? Or the prosecutor has now realised they won't get a verdict either way given there is a lack of evidence and might as well pull out while using Higgins mental health as an excuse as a cover up ?
The justice system had not failed. the failure occured because of media & political interference. The juror who did exterior research also failed the justice system, even though this person was told not to do outside research.
The Australian justice system atm is corrupt and perverted to the point of disbelief. Crooked as, so much talk about equality but quite the opposite.
