A federal appeals court panel on Thursday halted an independent arbiter’s review of the thousands of records seized from Donald Trump’s Florida estate in August, clearing the way for the Justice Department to continue its criminal investigation into the mishandling of government documents from the former president’s time in office.
District Judge Aileen Cannon’s decision to appoint Judge Raymond Dearie as special master to the tranche of documents, to determine what might be off-limits to federal investigators. “The answer is no.” In addition to reversing Cannon’s order, the panel’s decision requires her to dismiss the entire case, arguing that she was wrong to allow the delay of a federal probe. “The law is clear,” the panel wrote.
The 11th Circuit’s ruling was such a slap down of Judge Cannon’s shoddy jurisprudence—by an appeals court made up of of two Trump appointees and a Bush 43 appointee, no less—that she should resign. She is a disgrace.
Just a reminder of what the DOJ considers non-criminal. A review of what was found on Hillary Clinton’s illegal private server
Next time Trump pulls this stunt he might want to pick one of his sycophant judges who is a little smarter though by the time they give up their integrity are there really that many to choose from.
I wonder if this was worth her loyalty to him, it's a stain on her that she will never be able to remove.
