A Superior Court judge cleared the way for Seastreak to take over the New York-Monmouth County commuter service Monday.

Here’s what commuters need to know about the change.

Seastreak will offer six departures from Belford to New York City in the morning and seven boats from New York City to Belford in the afternoon, starting Dec. 5. Seastreak will operate shuttle bus service between Belford and its Highland and Atlantic Highlands terminals, meaning that New Jersey-bound commuters who buy multiple tickets can ride any of its ferries from New York and still get to where they parked.

That opens up all of Seastreak’s 22 departures to commuters, said James D. Barker, vice president of sales and marketing for Seastreak.
