If we don’t have the votes, then we’ll talk to [Senate Majority Leader Chuck] Schumer and maybe come back next year, with maybe an additional senator, and see if we can do better,” he said.

Cutting funds to police is another way of defunding the police without saying it. This would promoting the criminals who have guns as they would be unstoppable.

This is one example of how the democrats are turning our country into a banana republic. Sen. Chris Murphy was okay with cities not enforcing our immigration laws but not okay when they chose not to enforce gun laws.
You'd think the Democrats would have learned to never use the words 'defund' and 'police' in the same sentence.
Of course, this will lead to Chris Murphy's desired effect. Defunding the police so crime is more rampant, including illegal gun crime, so they can push gun confiscation. Government creates the problem to sell you the solution.
