Attorney general Mark Dreyfus has approved expenses for six former Coalition frontbenchers

Documents tabled in the House of Representatives on Tuesday reveal that on 28 October Dreyfus approved Morrison’s expenses for the robodebt inquiry related “to the performance of Mr Morrison’s former ministerial duties as then minister for social services, treasurer and prime minister”.

However, approval of expenses does not indicate whether Morrison will appear at the inquiry, which resumes in Brisbane on 5 December for two weeks of hearings into the establishment, design and implementation of the scheme and impact on individuals. Ministers and former ministers are eligible for “legal representation in relation to proceedings and other costs related to proceedings”.

Surely when they are found guilty of criminal behaviour they will jave to pay it back. They were not acting in their job capacity, we did not employ they to do crime.

Phillip Lowe should pay that he gets a lot of money doing nothing...

naturally, it wasn't done privately. Emotion out of it or it would be prosecuted

We pay for their incompetence and we pay for the aftermath of their stupidity. Stop voting them in. I can’t afford it!

If they can’t pay their legal fees, they can apply for legal aid like criminals can

They know they’re going to get him!

Soo we pay for their shitfuckery while in office, when they get caught we still pay!? And we are driven with fear of the law!!!

Good. Cost of Albo overseas holidays are a burden too.

NO!!!!

Taxpayers routinely fund the costs of ABC staff when sued for their personal tweets, and you were fine with that. If that’s acceptable, then costs for work related issues must also be ok, or you’re simply partisan hacks.
