Eastern Cape political heavyweight Xolile Nqatha has been dragged into a land dispute between emerging farmers and a national department.

This follows claims made by Vuyisile Alfred Poyo, a member of Siphakamile Mafama Agricultural Cooperative, who said Nqatha’s department at the time, the cooperative governance and traditional affairs – failed to intervene when they were evicted without a court order from a farm they had occupied for two decades by the national department of public works and infrastructure last year.Get 14 days free to read all our investigative and in-depth journalism.
