MI5 officer told the court that Shamima Begum 'in some respects...would have known what she was doing' when she travelled to Syria to join the so-called Islamic State

Shamima Begum"in some respects...would have known what she was doing" when she travelled to Syria as a teenager to join a terror group, an MI5 officer has told a court.

On the first day of a five-day hearing at the Special Immigration Appeals Commission - where a proportion of the proceedings are expected to be in private - an MI5 officer only known as Witness E gave some evidence in public. "It is inconceivable someone would not know what ISIL was doing as a terrorist organisation at the time," they continued.

In written submissions, Mr Squires and Ms Knights said Ms Begum's case was a"paradigm example of child trafficking for the purposes of sexual exploitation and forced child marriage".

She knew what she was doing but she didn’t understand it. She was a child.

15 year-old Shamima: 'she knew what she was doing.' 15 year-old Greta: 'she didn't know what she was doing.'

'In some respects yes, I do think she would have known what she was doing and would have had agency in doing so.' Is the full sentence. Way to spin a headline.

I don't really see how this is our problem just because you didn't enjoy your time at the ISIS Summer Camp in Syria. Shouldn't ever be welcomed back.
