The Socio-Economic Rights and Accountability Project (SERAP) has urged President Muhammadu Buhari’s administration to investigate the attack on offices of the Independent National Electoral Commission in Ogun and Osun states. The commission's offices in Abeokuta in Ogun and Osogbo in Osun were gutted by fire on Thursday. SaharaReporters reported that some hoodlums numbering about eight were said to have scaled the perimeter fence, jumped into the premises and set the INEC building in Abeokuta on fire from the rear side.

The electoral commission in an official statement issued in reaction to the arson attack said over 65,000 uncollected Permanent Voter Cards were destroyed in the fire. It was also reported that a section of the INEC office in the Ede South Local Government Area of Osun State was also burnt.
