Two changes from PSG saw Lionel Messi passed fit and came in for Pablo Sarabia with Fabian Ruiz restored the suspended Sergio Ramos, while Marseille showed up unchanged.

The Parisans giants were then required to make a substitution a little to the half-hour mark, as Danilo Pereira struggled to carry following a knock and was withdrawn for Nordi Mukiele. Marseille were also required to make a change a minute before the break, as an injury forced Eric Bailly off and saw Samuel Gigot enter the fray.

Marseille very nearly got the equaliser seven minutes in the second half when Amine Harit switched into the area from a smart ball and brought a clever save off goalkeeper Gianluigi Donnarumma.
