OTTAWA - A lawyer representing “Freedom Convoy” organizers has told a public inquiry into the federal government's use of the Emergencies Act there was no evidence the law was necessary to end the protests that took over streets around Parliament Hill last winter.
The Liberals argued invoking the law was needed to end border blockades and the occupation of downtown Ottawa by protesters demonstrating against COVID-19 vaccine mandates, lockdowns and the government. “When difficult events occur that impact the lives of Canadians, the public has a right to know what happened.”
Federal government lawyers argued the Liberals did have a “reasonable basis” for using the Emergencies Act. “The police had little time to prepare. The genesis of the protest only began a few weeks before it arrived,” he said, adding it was difficult to gauge the size of the convoy because many people joined as it moved closer to Ottawa.He said none of the intelligence reports predicted the “level of community violence and social trauma that was inflicted on the city and its residents.”
Police took action in many of those demonstrations, and arrested or ticketed protesters who were part of varying-sized crowds over the two years the pandemic dragged on.
What is there to know!! It was unlawful protest and an occupation. It had to end!! Majority Canadians supported the government action.
We all know what happened. We watched as these convoy clowns 🤡 made a mockery of our country for several days, costing the economy millions of dollars on a daily basis. All while funded by Republican/Conservative and Russian dark money. It’s as simple as that.

Canadians have a right to know how the Conservatives fueled & funded the movement. How the conservatives thought to harness the extremist movement & use it to gain and/or seize power in Canada. How fordnation was deeply involved & allowed a domestic terrorist attack to happen.
It only affected the people involved with the occupation and they choked off the money supply so they would disperse.

Yes...the Act itself states this; democracy demands it; citizens of liberal democracies expect it.
There was always going to be an inquiry. They knew they would have to answer. And they did it anyways. So- no. It’s not shocking or scandalous. It’s part of the process. Simmer down.

If Ottawa didn't have such an incompetent Chief of Police and a game plan and read the Bios of the ring leaders none of this would have happened.
If the police had done their jobs and not sided with domestic terrorists, it wouldn’t have been necessary to invoke the Act.
