NEW: coincenter sued the U.S. Treasury Department over its Tornado Cash sanctions, becoming the second group after Coinbase to fund a legal effort to declare the action unlawful. nikhileshde reports

against the Treasury Department and the Office of Foreign Asset Control , its sanctions watchdog, on Wednesday, marking the second suit the advocacy group has filed against the Treasury Department, as well as the second lawsuit filed against Treasury over its Tornado Cash sanctions.in August, claiming that North Korean hackers had laundered hundreds of millions of dollars’ worth of crypto through the mixer since its launch.

“An order effectively requiring Defendants to decriminalize use of the 20 Tornado Cash addresses would allow Plaintiffs to conduct their legitimate activities with some measure of anonymity, use their preferred software tool without fear of penalties, and engage in important expressive associations,” the suit said.

coincenter nikhileshde tornadocash is opensource software. There are many reasons people might use it. It sets an extremely bad precedent to ban this open source code.

coincenter nikhileshde Basically I keep telling people that eventually in USA that a Constitutional Amendment will come ensuring our financial freedoms. The US cannot tell citizens what currency we can't use. It's an individuals Right to decide how they want to conduct commerce.
