School board members are asking Gavin Newsom for legislation that would better inform schools and surrounding communities about the placement of serious sexual offenders in their area. More info:

SAN DIEGO – Monday, Sept. 26 Andrew Hayes and several other school board members from across San Diego County mailed a letter to Gavin Newsom’s desk requesting an expansion of Jessica’s Law, among other policy changes that would help better inform schools and communities about the placements of serious sexual offenders.

Parent leaders, administrative leaders, and the concerned residents of school neighborhoods around San Diego discussed potential policies to address the placement of five sex offenders into the Lakeside neighborhood near multiple bus stops and a school. KUSI’s Diane Tuazon went live near the current homes of recently placed sex offenders to discuss the community’s efforts to keep their neighborhoods safe.
