The striking Academic Staff Union of Universities will on Friday (today) file an appeal against the ruling of the National Industrial Court which directed its members to resume work, The PUNCH has learnt.

The Ebonyi State University’s ASUU Chairman, Ikechukwu Igwenyi, on Thursday, said with the court order, the Federal Government has declared “war” against members of the union.

This was as he pointed out that the “no work, no pay” policy of the government shows the authorities lack an understanding of the nature of the contract between the lecturers and their employees. “The NIC ordered ASUU to call off the ongoing strike and return to the classroom with empty stomachs and unpaid bills pending the determination of the suit filed against the union by the Federal Government,” he said in Abakaliki, on Thursday.

Speaker of the House, Femi Gbajabiamila; and Deputy Speaker, Ahmed Wase, on Thursday, led chairmen of relevant committees to another meeting with Yemi-Esan, Nta and other top officials on the government’s side. At the meeting, National Information Technology Development Agency told the House leadership that the Integrated Payroll Personnel Information System, the University Transparency Accountability Solution proposed by ASUU and the University Peculiar Personnel and Payroll System failed integrity tests.

BuHaRi's government the most irresponsible and incompetent government on earth, just that Nigerians are largely gullible and ignorant if not there should be protests every day through out BuHaRi's tenure.

I know ASUU is not a law abiding union as they claim. However, the battle for the end of ASUU is on and let's see how it ends. ASUU is no different from those fighting to break Nigeria. The only difference is the get paid for doing so.

Asuu are to consider the student not the government because, there childrens don't study in Nigeria

ASSU should be supported, our education system need to be independent,so judiciary,INEC,etc.

You keep std for house for 7 month and u don’t want war

Why is FG and asuu even complicating this thing St*pid bunch of adults who don't deserve to be regarded as elderly person Putting up egos when the lives of so many youth are at stake , pathetic!!!!!

And if appeal court says, you should go back nko ? You will head to supreme court and supreme court also says go back , you will head .....where ?

So na now the war wan start? All those wasted months na just romance?

Who will be the casualties of this war?

There is no system that is working in this country. Asuu is just looking a way where there is no way. The ruin of Nigerian education system did not start and obviously asuu strike can not stop the mess. Instead asuu should look look a way to generate revenue internally.

FG has proven that it is a government that is against western education in Nigeria.

Hmmmm Hope the war go soon end.

Even if dem go supreme court, FG go still win them. Last last na students dey suffer dis fight. Imagine people wey rent house off campus.

If FG do not agree/compromise and pay up backlogs etc...it's an indication that they've given up on the ruling party.

Make 9ja students kuku pay this money… 5k each student would sum up to something… 9ja is just a joke … giving people admission when school isn’t functioning

Nawa o This matter don strong o But what do expect from a government that is flooded with people with little or no education at all🙄 You can't give or value what you know nothing about Most of them re not educated,so can't relate 🙄

Na the man on the right with white beard na be FG? 🤔

They thought they can always treat Nigeria workers the same way. Run to industrial court to stop workers from fighting for their right ,while they lived luxurious life on government pus.

Don't back down untill your demands is meant even if it's take 2 years our Educational sectors has to work

wakeel_jnr vawulence😅😂
