The court, sitting in Abuja, had on Friday, declined to hear an application the federal government filed for an order to direct the ASUU to immediately suspend their ongoing strike action. The court in addition stated that the application for interlocutory injunction would be taken first on September 19 by 11am.However, the Court on Monday before another adjournment was made after the parties argued the Interlocutory Application of the federal government seeking to order the striking lecturers back to work.
Igwe had urged the court to grant the interlocutory injunction restraining ASUU and its agents from further going on strike pursuant to section 18 subsection one of the trade dispute act which provides that no employer shall take part in any strike once the matter was referred to the National Industrial Court.
