and after interviews with local TV news stations, Larhonda Biggles felt alone.

A spokesman for Gonzalez said,"the sheriff has kept his promise to do everything in his power to ensure those responsible are held accountable."The most comprehensive account of Simmons’ death, released to date, by Gonzalez last year, outlined a mix of guards using force on Simmons and failing to document it but not many specifics about who did what.

An internal probe conducted by the sheriff's office found guards had not documented the use of force and, after he had allegedly clogged his toilet, they had returned him to the since-cleaned cell without any clothes Feb. 16, another violation of the sheriff's office's policy, according to the sheriff's office.

The night of Feb. 16 temperatures across the state plummeted during a historic freeze that ultimately killed hundreds in incidents of hypothermia, fires started by families trying to keep warm and crashes on icy roads.
