People in a trial eating nearly half their daily calories at breakfast were less hungry during the day.

People's metabolism was precisely measured using doubly labelled water, which is denser than normal water and can be tracked as it leaves the body.found the timing of a big meal made no difference to how many calories were burned, to people's resting metabolic rate or the amount of weight they lost.Prof Alexandra Johnstone said that was likely to be crucial in the real world when the amount of food available was not being controlled.

Prof Johnstone said there were ideas around the brain's appetite and reward systems being "more in tune for the first meal of the day" as it breaks the overnight fast."People are trying to maximize their sleep and don't have time in the morning to either prepare or sit down and eat a larger meal, and therefore, by default, eat a larger evening meal," said Prof Johnstone.

No breakfast is a lot better than that

This is the opposite of Spaniards and Italians do... why are they less obese than brittish ?

You might feel a bit less hungry the rest of the day, but that doesn't mean you won't eat anything.

Thank god. I can get stuck in now

I get more hungry when I have breakfast. So not sure about this study.

Incorrect. The meaning is in the word break-fast. U shouldn't eat anything between your dinner and next day at lunch . Big breakfasts like that r only good for athletes or builders who burns a lot of energy. Sometime people confused hunger with thirst.

But appetite was noticeably smaller after big breakfasts.. no chit sherlock 🤪😂😂 talking of breakfast, one to start the day properly.

So eat more food so you don’t feel hungry, glad we had a scientific study for that 😂

More recycling on the old news front. DefundTheBBC

Did it really need 'research', haven't we all known this for years?! Breakfast like a King, lunch like a Prince, dine like a pauper.

How about people eat when they are hungry. Like nature intended.

Yeah folk really get time for a shit in morning

'Study suggests', 😂poke your study where the sun don't shine, I'll eat what I want 🤡

Except we can only afford gruel
