The suspect told police he asked the father of the family for a recommendation for a promotion, but was angered when he thought he didn't provide one.

During an interview with investigators, Lu told police he asked Sun for a recommendation for a promotion.

When Lu went back to work the next day, he told police he felt he was being "treated differently" by his coworkers and said he thought Sun said something derogatory about him to his coworkers after their phone call, and that's why he wasn't selected for the promotion. Investigators believe the Suns were shot in their Coles Crossing home sometime on Friday, Jan. 24, 2014. Their bodies weren't discovered until the father failed to show up to work the following Monday.

An arrest made in the case is a big deal all of these years later, especially for some members of the Chinese-American community who said they felt like the case had been forgotten.
