Pierre Poilievre is promising to enact what he calls the 'Plain Language Law,' which he says would bring an end to government jargon, including in legislative documents.

Bank of Canada Governor Tiff Macklem says Canada's inflation rate is set to remain 'painfully high' for the rest of the year. In an exclusive interview with CTV News, Macklem says the path to a 'soft' economic landing is 'narrowing' but at this point the central bank is not projecting a recession.'After a weeks-long survey of just about everyone I've met ...

So in the name of 'freedom', he's going to monitor speech? And he will determine what constitutes unacceptable governement jargon? Seems legit.

He didn’t say he was changing laws , he said it would be worded simpler so small businesses and others, wouldn’t have to go through so much red tape to start a business as well as spend less on a lawyer. That’s all it is.

Yeah let’s dumb it down for your base Pierre

It’s 1 of 3 things: 1. An attempt to make progressives look “elite” with their tricky fancy words 2. He thinks Canadians are just so dumb we couldn’t possibly understand things like the charter, or the elections act. 3. His MPs are daft, and he’s not any better.

The comments to this teeet 😂😂😂. I mean I knew liberals were not smart, but holy mackerel….

Such a poor example of a real Canadian. A lier and a cheat

Removing government jargon is rich. That would mean nothing will be said nor put on parchment. That is one way to reduce the carbon emissions.

Seems 'gate-keeper-ish' ...

This seems akin to goal-oriented regulation which is an interpretive mess for inspectors, regulatory bodies and governed industry.

Cons just being Cons 🤷🏻‍♂️

Me write thing. Thing be good. You read, you like, me sure. I joked a few days ago about having to write sentences using words with seven letters or less to get through to the dullards, but didn't expect it to be a policy of the federal government.

Every day, this guy says something more ridiculous than the day before.

Here here

Why not. Government is for the people.

Only Anglo Saxon allowed. 😂🤣😂

Yawn…

Pierre is really appealing to the brightest of his followers with this one /s

He’s got to win first. Good luck with that 😉

PierrePoilievre, all laws, legislation and government documents should only be displayed in pictorial form, preferably coloured cartoon formats. That should satisfy the base just fine 😉😂

I thought “justinflation”was his daily gripe? This is silly.

HOW do you remove Jargon from legal documents. This is literally Orwellian nonsense. Can’t wait for PP to fade into oblivion.

Takes couple of weeks to get used to the jargon when you start in public service. Outside facing comms are in plain language. Technical language is only used when required. You’d think after all the years in government he would understand what public servants are saying

No more big words for Poilievre…like “Justinflation”…Good!

So, he wants to regulate speech?

Hmm if only a certain author wrote a book that outlined the dumbing down of language to control and manipulate people...

This is his freedom… lol

Politician, famous for using made-up words, tells other politicians to stop using big ones.

Why is he still frantically pushing this stuff out? Haven't people voted already?

Makes sense - his mouth breathing white trash base can’t understand words with more than 3 syllables.

When will know how the economy is growing from the heart out?

Ah, I see he's tackling the important stuff.

BREAKING: Poilievre gibberish law against gibberish a real head scratcher.

Like the truth

Is this the bitcoin clown 🤡 ?

Politicians, famous or using made-up words, tell other politicians to stop using big ones.

Who is Pierre Poilievre?

Create another law to make things simpler? Riiigggghhhhttttt ….

Hey jordanbpeterson Isn't this your 'compelled speech' that you're so upset by?

Lol dumbing down the population... This is Idiocracy come to life in Canada... Who woulda thought? Next he'll claim plants crave Brawndo? NeverVoteConservative

So he wants to ban words? Why not instead educate people what the big words mean?

What about the 'jargon' from CTV who lies to us all the time?

'Oh, and I also promise free speech...' 🤦‍♀️

Good idea given his followers. keepitsimple

Let me guess, PP wants to speak only in swear words like his supporters.

Double plus ungood.
