“The extent of arbitrary and discriminatory detention of members of Uyghur and other predominantly Muslim groups ... may constitute international crimes, in particular crimes against humanity,” the report said. The UN simultaneously released a 121-page report by China, which said the state’s fight against terrorism in the region was “necessary and just”, within “the rule of law” and “safeguards human rights”.
