A Pan-Okpe socio-political group, the Okpe Peoples’ Forum (OPF), has commended the Court of Appeal for restoring the Speaker of Delta State House of Assembly, Sheriff Oborevwori

, as the governorship candidate of the Peoples Democratic Party for the state in the 2023 general elections.

In a statement issued by OPF President, Igho Akeregha, the group expressed gratitude to the Governor of Delta State, Ifeanyi Okowa, for his steadfastness and exemplary leadership that ensured the victory of Oborevwori, who is currently the Speaker of the Delta House of Assembly. The forum, a global body of notable Okpe indigenes, assured it would continue to work for peace and development of Delta in general and the Okpe Kingdom in particular, being one of the most peaceful ethnic groups in Nigeria.

But Justice Peter Ige, who led two other Justices of the appellate court in Abuja that delivered the landmark judgment, held that claims against the Speaker are criminal in nature and must be proved beyond a reasonable doubt.
