The family of Archie Battersbee have been told his life support is due to be withdrawn this morning. His mother Hollie Dance said: 'I've done everything that I promised my little boy I'd do.'

The 12-year-old from Southend, Essex in England was found unconscious by his mother, Hollie Dance, on 7 April last with a ligature around his neck, prompting her to believe he was taking part in an online challenge gone wrong.Archie has been kept alive since then by a combination of medical interventions, including ventilation and drug treatments.

Justice Theis in UK's HIgh Court ruled it was not in Archie's best interests to be moved to a hospice. In an interview with Sky News, recorded yesterday, Hollie Dance said she is"pretty broken" and that the day had been"absolutely awful". Ms Dance added:"It's been really hard. Despite the hard strong face and appearance obviously in front of the cameras up until now, I've been pretty broken."

Sad Sad Sad for everyone concerned his himself firstly so young his mother and family the hospital staff nurses doctors and carers the courts who had to rule on the decision. Heartbreaking

I'm sorry it's come to that. There're so many lesson to be learnt from this but I'm not about to guilt the parents for not realizing he was engaging with those crappy internet challenges. It's the nature of tweens/teens to be secretive and drawn to risky behavior.

💔

I get that this should be a snippet on page 5 of the Irish Times, but why does RTÉ treat UK and US human interest stories with the same or greater intensity than Irish ones? If this was happening in Paris or Düsseldorf we'd struggle to even find a snippet on page 5.

Coma’s are a hoax. No such thing as brain dead.
