Gov. Charlie Baker of Massachusetts signed a new law protecting providers of reproductive health, including abortions, and gender-affirming care from out-of-state legal action.

BOSTON — Massachusetts has a new law on the books protecting providers of reproductive health, including abortions, and gender-affirming care from out-of-state legal action in a post-Roe v. Wade world after Republican Gov. Charlie Baker on Friday signed the bill Democrats sent him.

"Massachusetts remains steadfast in its commitment to protect access to reproductive health care services, especially in the aftermath of the Supreme Court's decision overturning Roe v. Wade," Baker said in a statement, adding that the decision"has major consequences for women across the country who live in states with limited access to these services."
