Bridget Archer, who rebelled against the former government on key pieces of legislation, says she is prepared to do so again in support of enshrining a 43 per cent emissions reduction target into law.

The government can pass its climate target bill through the lower house without support from Ms Archer or other MPs, but it will need external support to succeed in the Senate.

"Our hope is that we can end up with a situation where we can improve the government's bill and pass it," Mr Bandt said. But Mr Bandt said the government had agreed to spell out in the legislation that the 43 per cent emissions reduction target was a "floor, not a ceiling" to ensure there were no obstacles in the future to possibly raise it further.

“Rebel” what a dumb way to say someone doesn’t want humans to be able to live on planet earth anymore.

Well done Bridget, There should be more MPs willing to cross the floor and vote for a piece of legislation , even if it’s against party policy. If you were a Labor MP you would be expelled . Can’t be an individual there, just a number.

Won’t matter in the lower house. Just virtue signalling.

All piss and wind no credibility what so ever.

Don’t believe until I see it. Can never trust a LNP

Kudos to Bridget Archer for giving the bird to her reactionary leaders PeterDutton_MP and D_LittleproudMP, and for setting an example for crusader AdamBandt. Enough with obstruction and procrastination - let's commit 43% ASAP.

Liberal MP Bridget Archer - you are a wonderful woman of conviction, especially in this case of out-of-control climate change in Australia.

Good luck to her. She was re elected and garnered respect by standing up to Morrison and fighting for integrity where he and the government failed.

LnpTruthLibrary The LABOR Government does NOT need her approval !!! If she is serious about taking a stand she should remove herself from the LNP and be an Independent!

Good for her

She has integrity and is likely a key reason she increased her vote rather than lost votes in my opinion.

I don't believe MP Bridget Archer has Liberal beliefs 👇

Forget the climate hoax. We need affordable electricity, gas, and petrol. Australia's total carbon footprint for the year is about 2 weeks o For china. So making our people pay the price

She needs to be a Teal i.e. the faux political party.

Bridget would do well to hook up with JLN or go indi

How many times did the former Dawson MP threaten to cross the floor and vote for a Royal Commission? Don't be like him Mrs Archer.

Anyone advocating emissions reductions must be required to state exactly how it will be done and exactly what it will cost. Otherwise, they're just talking shit.

Bridget Archer is symptomatic of exactly why the Liberals lost the election: dripping wet, upper-class wokesters pretending to be conservatives.

Funny how Labor will excommunicate any member who votes against the party...but libs are free to vote how ever they like What does that tell you about the core values of these parties?

psstt.....help set up a 5 years tax concession zone in Tassie (say 10% rebate to the electricity bill). Hopefully companies can relocate here for the green electricity while supercharge Tassie economy at the same time.

The AlbaneseGovernment doesn’t need approval to build the electricity infrastructure of the future or to reach his target. AlboMP is seeking to enshrine his target into law.

It's not 'rebelling' unless your party's idiololgy is entirely to oppose the opposition rather than work to better the country... Oh wait. LNP. Nevermind.

They're always doing the climb it. It looks dangerous to the oil riggers. Can they stop firing short waves in land, because I don't know what it is like out at sea, when there is meant to be a monitor on big business and it is shifted onto my Gallery. I'm not a galley!

They already have the numbers Bridget.

Basically the whole of Australia could be carbon negative except for large industrial fuel requirements by companies that make big profits with base consumers taxes subsidizing them for the cherry in top

Now do the ALP MPs who voted against their constituents following the marriage equality plebiscite.

What is the plan to reach 43%? Approving more gas and coal projects is a part of the plan? How does this work? More clever accounting? Emissions from coal we sell doesn't count. What else doesn't count? Reality?

Its a token but useful. Now if she can influence some LNP Senators to abstain when the climate bill is voted on it would be very useful.

PatsKarvelas Imagine if they had of made her leader?

Bridget's a good egg, she's been one of the rare coalition MP's who've been prepared to speak their own mind for years 👍

The senate is where all the action will be.

Why do they brag about saying the dumbest shit 😭

So yet another many years of crap politics while people are feeling the effects of climate change these entitled idiots want to play with their lives. Well done Bridgett let’s hope your family is never affected by the changing climate right!

Shes irrelevant

So good that western country all go into debt to pay for China military to be biggest and best in world oh and to get some green tech from China, China is boss now and western country will all obey China in future

Needs to be kicked out of the party.
