Democrat San Diego City Council President, SeanEloRivera, says trash services can't be funded by property taxes because very few other cities do it that way. He added that imposing a new tax will help achieve our 'Climate Action Plan goals.' Full Story:

SAN DIEGO – Democrat Council President Elo-Rivera, Councilmember Joe LaCava, labor and community groups gathered to support reform of the People’s Ordinance.

San Diego City Council President Elo-Rivers says the current ordinance “impacts the city’s ability to provide world-class public services; impedes progress toward our Climate Action Plan goals, and provides an exclusive benefit to only a subset of City residents.” Elo-Rivera says San Diego is the only state in California that doesn’t have a tax for trash services, insisting that cities like Chula Vista and National City have better trash services than San Diego.

Obviously, many opponents to the new tax argue that trash services are clearly part of the general fund.

SeanEloRivera Another complete leftist fool, like Gloria, who does nothing but hurt San Diego: Every. Single. Day.

SeanEloRivera The city of San Diego has this pesky thing called a charter. Changing it is problematic

SeanEloRivera We knew it was coming. Sadly people will still vote for radical progressive Marxists. When all is said and done the only ppl left in SD county will be the wealthy and the poor. Hell, that will be all of CA.

SeanEloRivera All I hear is “since democrats came into power we’ve mismanaged the budget and need to tax you more”.

SeanEloRivera Wait...how has the SD city trash service been paid for all these years! In EC we pay the trash service company directly.

SeanEloRivera '...help achieve our 'Climate Action Plan goals.'. Whose goals? Certainly not mine or any of the people I know. So he wants to impose a tax to advance his personal goals at the expense of the taxpayer?

SeanEloRivera 🙄

SeanEloRivera Climate action goals extremely vague and just a means for more money. NO.

SeanEloRivera Here it comes keep voting democrat America

SeanEloRivera I would find out those 'very few other cities' and look at their model. If it can be done, I say do it and do the climate plan without taxing the people.

SeanEloRivera Chula Vista probably wasn't the best example, after their trash-contract nightmare. And here it comes, SD City residents... more taxes in an already astronomically unaffordable region.

SeanEloRivera Our 'progressive' city council again tries to raise our cost of living even higher.

SeanEloRivera Can trash services do something about that haircut?
