THE Department of Foreign Affairs is set to evacuate more than 100 Filipinos in Sri Lanka once its government approves the request of the Philippines for landing rights for a sweeper flight.
Foreign Affairs Undersecretary for Migrant Workers Affairs Eduardo de Vega on Tuesday, July 20, said some 115 Filipinos have agreed to return to the country amid the ongoing economic crisis in Sri Lanka.De Vega said the DFA is looking to shoulder the plane tickets.Based on the latest DFA data, there are over 700 Filipinos in Sri Lanka, most of whom are married to its citizens.
