Superior Court Justice Anne London-Weinstein granted King bail on Monday morning under conditions that include him returning to Alberta as soon as possible.Supporters wearing T-shirts that said “Free Pat King” brought tissues to their eyes as the judge delivered her decision.He faces charges related to his participation in the three-week protest that jammed Ottawa’s downtown with trucks, vehicles and demonstrators.
King must return to Alberta to live with a court-approved surety within 24 hours, pending flight availability. He will be employed by another surety. King will be under a curfew from 6 p.m. to 10 a.m. King cannot participate in any protests or unlawful assemblies related to the COVID-19 pandemic, the “freedom convoy” or anti-government demonstrations, the justice ruled.This advertisement has not loaded yet, but your article continues below.He is not allowed contact with a list of convoy supporters and organizers, including Tamara Lich, Christopher Barber, Daniel Bulford, Benjamin Dichter, James Bauder, Tyson Billings and Tom Marazzo, Owen Swiderski and Brian Carr.
Barber, a Swift Current, Saskatchewan truck driver who helped organize the convoy, also faces charges and was released on bail.
