Giving, say, the West Indies or Africa a better economic / world trade deal would be far more effective and positive. But that would cost smug liberals like JB money and comforts - so there's no danger whatsoever of their advocating it !

How about we stop the CURRENT AND ACTIVE slave trade in Libya, then worry about the past.
No it's about punishing a modern/blameless/white population for what happened hundreds or thousands of years ago. Slavery reparations are more about hating white people than actual justice.

This is bollocks. Italy is going to pay a fortune for the Roman empire? Scandinavia for the Vikings? And there's a lot of Africans who need to pay up for enslaving thier own. Move on.
Where does it end, and how far back do we go? Do we ignore some people's ancestral crimes (African participation in slavery), do regard history and seek reparations for changes made which effect today (The Norman Conquest)...or is it only African slavery and the Jewish holocaust?
No it is about appeasing the black community who refuse to accept responsibility for how their lives are NOW and feel the need to constantly blame others for things that happened hundreds of years ago.
Will the Africans who have enslaved and sold their own people pay for reparations as well?
Never will be any reparation, this will start a war for sure. Get a grip.
In terms of America a one way ticket back to Africa or the monetary equivalent will suffice.
