BREAKING: Uvalde body camera footage shows an officer who had been grazed by a shot saying 'we’ve got to get in there, he just keeps shooting.'

The nearly 80-page report was the first to criticize both state and federal law enforcement, and not just local authorities in the South Texas town for theby heavily armed officers as a gunman fired inside two fourth-grade classrooms at Robb Elementary School, killing 19 students and two teachers.

The report — the most complete account yet of the hesitant and haphazard response to the May 24 massacre — was written by an investigative committee from the Texas House of Representatives. Swiftly, the findings set in motion at least one fallout: Lt. Mariano Pargas, a Uvalde Police Department officer who was the city’s acting police chief during the massacre, was placed on administrative leave.

“Other than the attacker, the Committee did not find any ‘villains’ in the course of its investigation,” the report said. “There is no one to whom we can attribute malice or ill motives. Instead, we found systemic failures and egregiously poor decision making.” The report followed weeks of closed-door interviews with more than 40 people, including witnesses and law enforcement who were on the scene of the shooting.

Hours after the report was released, Uvalde officials separately made public for the first time hours of body camera footage from the city’s police officers who responded to the attack. It includes video of several officers reacting to word from a dispatcher, roughly 30 minutes after the shooting began, that a child in the room had called 911.Other body camera video from Uvalde Staff Sgt..

I for one, applaud that one officer, who was probably stopped from taking any action by his cowardly colleagues. If we don’t commend good actions , even if that action SHOULD be the norm, but then why would people bother if they are going to be lumped with the others ?

Watch minute by minute

Gutless

None of these police officers should be working as law enforcement. I certainly wouldn't want them to come to my rescue. They are a disgrace to the uniform UvaldeMassacre UvaldePoliceCowards how many police were there and couldn't be brave enough to save the children?

Fascinating that underpaid public servants are getting flak for not putting their lives on the line, being underprepared etc., when in fact it is the absolutely insane gun laws that are in fact to blame for this issue. And will be so for ever more in the US.

Proof that throwing money at something doesn't make it better. What's the budget for the police force there? Like 40% of the city budget? Shameful. They need to be put on trial.

You are supposed to be shot at, CHARGE!! Replace police with those who will actually lay down their lives defending the country, not cowards who lack the proper encouragement TO MAN UP AND FIGHT! We need to get them to know the price of not defending the people.

No shit! There were 400 cops there. 400! WHAT DO WE PAY THESE BASTARDS FOR?!? TO KEEP US FROM SAVING OUR KIDS? I don't understand why there's a single cop shop left standing in Uvalde, I don't know why all of those bastards haven't been driven out, I DON'T UNDERSTAND ANY OF THIS!

Good guys with guns, . . . who are we kidding?

maggieNYT Stopping bad guys with guns by good guys with there was one bad guy with a gun and how many good guys with guns?Kinda blows a hole in that old argument.

maggieNYT So what happened to the good guys with guns?

....and here come the law suits, rightfully so!

I will never understand how this was allowed to happen. at all!! Total failure from those who were hired and paid to keep the children safe!!!I grew up in that beautiful little town. God help us!!

God forgave everyone, let it go and move on.

Serious question: Why do we even have police?

maggieNYT Nobody wants to be around AR 15 when it's being fired. Ban and destroy them.

I just watched the body cam footage...unbelievable

Good idea. Bad follow-through. Just incomprehensible. UvaldeMassacre

Why have we not started [redacted] as many cops as we possibly can? I literally think that the mass [redacted] of police is the only solution left. All police have to go, one way or the other

Uvalde report: 400 officers but ‘egregiously poor’ decisionsUVALDE, Texas (AP) — Nearly 400 law enforcement officials rushed to a mass shooting at a Uvalde elementary school, but “egregiously poor decision-making” resulted in more than an hour of chaos before the gunman who took 21 lives was finally confronted and killed, according to a damning investigative report released Sunday. Not only would I never send my kids to college in Texas, I won’t allow them to drive though Texas on the way to college You see that’s the problem we have to many ‘actors’ in positions they clearly don’t comprehend. Maybe hire real people to do the work and stop hiring ‘actors’. Where was the actual police chief anyways. 😑. Fire everybody! Has anyone asked the 400 police officers present at what time did they all realize the shooter wasn't an illegal?
