Why? Maybe it’s because he’s earnestly concerned about inflation, even though he also put the kibosh on tax hikes for the very wealthy, which were a key part of the package’s deficit reduction plan. Maybe it’s because he receives more money from the fossil fuel industry than any other senator and made his personal fortune on coal. Maybe it’s because he simply relishes his role as the self-appointed gatekeeper in a divided Washington.
If only he made decisions in America's and the planet's best interests, instead of his own.
