American basketball star Brittney Griner is due back in a Russian court to resume a trial that was jolted last week when she abruptly pleaded guilty to drug possession charges.

Washington may have little leverage with Moscow, though, because of strong animosity over its military operation in Ukraine., nicknamed “the Merchant of Death,” who is serving a 25-year sentence in the U.S. after being convicted of conspiracy to kill U.S. citizens and providing aid to a terrorist organization.

The State Department’s designation of Griner as wrongfully detained moves her case under the supervision of its special presidential envoy for hostage affairs, effectively the government’s chief hostage negotiator. The classification has irritated Russia.

This woman committed a crime.. it should not be a US government issue.. there are more serious problems in America.. let’s not focus and distract from real problem from within our government/court ruling..

Putin will make Biden grovel. Isn’t happening.

This story wouldn't be a thing if the US wasn't materially assisting with the killing of thousands of Russians.

She messed up for sure, but now she is political prisoner. Bring Brittney home !!!!

Wtf? surely knows Griner’s guilty plea was strategically aimed at future negations between the U.S. and Russia. What a horrible tweet from . Shameful.

Russian Court be like...

This story gets a fascinating amount of engagement from people who seem to mock griner and this situation 🤔🤔 just happens on a Russia-centric topic. So interesting!
