Judges temporarily blocked abortion bans Monday in Louisiana and Utah, while a federal court in South Carolina said a law restricting the procedure after six weeks of pregnancy would take effect there

immediately as the battle over the fall of Roe v. Wade shifted from the nation's highest court to courthouses around the country.

"I think the immediate effects that will occur outweigh any policy interest of the state in stopping abortions," Utah Judge Andrew Stone said. Louisiana Attorney General Jeff Landry, a Republican and staunch abortion opponent, vowed to fight the judge's ruling and enforce the law. Also Monday, abortion rights advocates asked a Florida judge to block a new law there that bans the procedure after 15 weeks with some exceptions to save a mother's life or if the fetus has a fatal abnormality, but no exceptions for rape, incest or human trafficking. The ACLU of Florida argued that the law violates the Florida Constitution. A ruling on that is expected Thursday -- a day before the law is scheduled to take effect.

That's likely to be the case in Louisiana. The plaintiffs in the lawsuit filed in state court don't deny that the state can now ban abortion. Instead, they contend Louisiana now has multiple, conflicting trigger mechanisms in the law.

MaryLTrump Jenna_Blum mariashriver DanRather potus US Supreme Court no longer valid legal entity as it has set THE precedent for each US state to enact their own laws for that state thus abdicating their judicial responsibility - NY gun law legal...resign or Biden fire them

Looks like an insurrection… not like muhinsurrection that lasted 5 hrs

Crazy stuff, can you cover something on the Arizona state capital riots as well?

The supreme Court did not ban abortions.

For me it comes down to people who support selling baby parts and blood and people who don't support, the other areas can be easily worked out by the states

Why do you insist on the left wing bias ? 🤔

Lol

Enough of this crap already. If this had happened in any other country we would not blink an eye

Supreme Court needs to be purged by a well regulated militia

As a former fetus, I full endorse SCOTUS's decision

Don't worry about it, it has nothing to do with Canada. Now start reporting on all of Trudeau/Liberals failures like an honest media should be doing.

Phoebe Bridgers leads anti-Supreme Court chant after court overturns Roe v. WadePhoebe Bridgers vented her frustration at America's high court during her Glastonbury Festival set on Friday night after the U.S. Supreme Court overturned Roe v. Wade. Young foolish ideologues who do not understand Constitutional law. They're funny. '[T]here is no longer a federal constitutional right to an abortion' There never was because abortion is not mentioned in the Constitution so it's not a right. This is now being left for the states to decide. But we're not gonna call it an insurrection.
