Meta has reportedly barred employees from discussing abortion on internal channels

, the company has deleted messages on its internal communication tools that mention the topic. In the document, the social media giant reportedly said it “would not allow open discussion” about abortion within the workplace due to “a heightened risk of creating a hostile work environment.”

One employee took to LinkedIn to voice their frustration with the situation. “On our internal Workplace platform, moderators swiftly remove posts or comments mentioning abortion,” said. “Limited discussion can only happen in groups of up to 20 employees who follow a set playbook, but not out in the open.” Meta did not immediately respond to Engadget’s request for comment.

On Friday, Meta also told employees it would reimburse the travel expenses of employees in need of access to out-of-state healthcare and reproductive services “to the extent permitted by law.” That’s a policy many tech companies, including Google, had in place before Friday’s decision and that theyFriday’s action wasn’t the first time Meta moved to prevent its employees from dicussing a contentious topic at the workplace.

All the more to get them to continue working on their 'big project' that will surely bring the company 'billions of not trillions'

Hey, did you guys ever answer my question on whether or not you condone one of your employees inciting violence against government officials?

Back to work!

That's already healthy

Never thought I would say this but good job zuck

On the fence on this one, there’s always LinkedIn

We mustn't talk about it, becuse it is a form of murder. Extremely negative.

Hey didn’t your senior editor tell people to burn down SCOTUS? ListComesForAll has a screen shot . Maybe do some damage control.

You cool with your employee doing this?

You guys don’t seem to care what your employees say at all

Fuck that, leave go get another job. Ultimately take your talent to another country, they’ll wake up at some point.

Y bueeeenooooo... TODO EL MUNDO YA SABE QUE zuckerberg ES UN ASCO DE PERSONA, qué más vamos a esperar de él o META, la misma mierda, o por lo menos tienen el mismo hedor.

Women of meta, if this is true, please take to graphic discussions of ‘feminine hygiene’ products.

I don't disagree. You don't need that kind of conflict at work. Then someone gets in their feels and calls sexual harassment. Then you have a problem and if you don't address it you are in the news. I agree 100% keep that stuff outside nwork channels.

Such a free country.

So then is this really a shock? “The company updated its Respectful Communication Policy following the murder of George Floyd in 2020. At the time, the company told employees they could no longer discuss political and social issues in company-wide Workplace channels.”

Meta has been barring conservative content for years but suddenly censorship is a problem?

Meta comment?

MarkZuckerbeg Just go post it on Facebook. Where the world comes to take a dump
