Former Balch Springs police officer Roy Oliver, who was convicted of murdering 15-year-old Jordan Edwards in 2017, will not get a new trial.

The Texas Criminal Court of Appeals denied the request of formerOliver and other officers were responding to a complaint about a party when they heard gunshots in the area. , but that officer testified that his life was never in danger.

Oliver was fired. A Dallas County jury convicted him in 2018.
