In a shocking development, eight medical personnel will reportedly stand trial for alleged criminal negligence in the untimely death of Diego Maradona, which is now being treated as a homicide.The Argentina legend died at the age of 60 in November 2020 while he was in the process of recovering from brain surgery for a blood clot, following a long battle with cocaine and alcohol addictions.
However, prosecutors have now accused the medical workers who took care of him in his last few weeks of abandoning him to his fate during his hospitalisation at home. Neurosurgeon Leopoldo Luque, psychiatrist Agustina Cosachov, psychologist Carlos Diaz, medical co-ordinator Nancy Forlini, and four others, including nurses, are understood to have been placed under investigation, and will now stand trial., the 236-page charge states that the judge will probe"the behaviours – active or by omission – of each of the accused which led to and contributed to the realisation of the harmful result".
