YANGON, June 22 — The Myanmar junta's trial of a detained Australian economist will shift to a special court inside a prison compound in the capital Naypyidaw, a source with knowledge of the case said today.
He has been charged with violating the country's official secrets law and faces a maximum penalty of 14 years in prison if found guilty. Turnell and co-accused Aung San Suu Kyi had earlier appeared at weekly hearings in a special court in a municipal compound in the sprawling capital.
