Moscow has been accused of violating international law after two British citizens were threatened with death sentences by pro-Russia rebels in Ukraine.

It comes as Russia has increased troop numbers in eastern Ukraine as it tries to take control of the Donbas region.

UK’s Downing Street condemned the sentence, calling it a “political stunt” and a “direct violation of international law”. “This is just the latest disgusting act by Vladimir Putin’s regime and his affiliates,” UK Conservative MP Robert Jenrick said.

Russia hasn’t got the death penalty!! This is the punitive decision of a separate Republic/region! The crimes of which these mercenaries are accused, were executed on their territory!! This article is lazy, erroneous nonsense!! Pathetic!!🙁

The Donesk People's Republic is independent of Ukraine & Russia. So putting this on Putin's shoulders is complete nonsense!

Putin becoming pure dictatorial

Get the facts right, DPR is the republic. They are the ones who have tried, convicted them.

As if Moscow cares? I mean what can any nation do about it? Maybe that's why North Koea & Iran want the nukes? Like saying: ' well you made the rules so now ' In your face!'.

British pro Ukrainian rebels threatened with death sentences from pro Russia rebels. Well lucky they weren't there on behalf of the British military or Britain would now be considered to have joined the war.

Are these the two mercenaries who were in Ukraine trying to kill people. If so you reap what you sow.

Lol huh? As sad as it is, they’re mercenaries and as such are criminals there, not soldiers protected by the Geneva convention.

Ukraine has also sentenced Russian soldiers to life imprisonment which is also against the Geneva convention
