Google's decision to ignore repeated requests to take down racist videos targeting the former New South Wales deputy premier demonstrates the tech giant's attitude towards defamation laws, one legal expert says.

FriendlyJordies uploaded two videos as part of what Justice Steven Rares called a "racist campaign" against Mr Barilaro. One was titled 'bruz', the other 'Secret Dictatorship'.

Outside court yesterday, an emotional Barilaro said he felt vindicated and was glad the journey was over. Direct hate speech is against Google's own terms of use and this was a key reason why Justice Rares was so scathing of the corporate giant.

This was an extreme misuse of parliamentary privilege and needs to be addressed in law.

I still ponder Greedo as a Starwars name - Guido - a slur on Italian men - and greedy - a word combined. The GENIUS: Greedo. Did G-Lucas do this on purpose to be clever? Was it a sub-conscious thing his brain did? Only court could decide.

This is a reminder the court system is a cabal, we should be publicly scrutinising it instead of showing articles how appears to provide justice for the few and nothing for the many.

the tough dogs are gunning lol

Stupid state sponsored article by the ABC. Since when are 'hurtful' and 'vulgar' videos defamatory? The videos were not proven racist or defamatory, there was no jury, essentially this was just the opinion of a sole federal government employee. Hopefully Google appeals.

. Hilarious. ABC sticking up for polly against amateur journo. Did the creator of this story get sued? Nope. The polly withdrew his action. Why? Was it to stop the proof of his actions coming out in court? That's what friendlyjordies thinks. .

Google - quick to censor political opinions that don't conform to its social justice ideology - happy to leave up that attack those they consider their political opponents. Just look at YouTube or what is censored by the algorithm. Editorial policy is lefty student union stuff

google make more cash in a few minutes then dealing with barilaro .

It's only 700k, they don't care. It's like a rain drop in their ocean money.
