WHAT DO YOU THINK? Gov. Kathy Hochul is expected to sign gunreform bills into law this morning -

The 10 bills were passed late last week by state lawmakers. The legislation will tighten the already strict gun laws in New York state.

New York's legislature voted to ban anyone under age 21 from buying or possessing a semi-automatic rifle."We're saying here in New York, we will lead, but the rest of the states, shame on you if you don't," Hochul said. The bill raising the age limit is the most significant part of a package of gun control measures announced last week by Democratic legislative leaders and Gov. Hochul.

Other new gun-related laws will restrict civilian purchases of bullet-resistant armor, as worn by the killer in Buffalo, and require new guns to have microstamping technology to help law enforcement trace bullets to particular weapons. The bills also give health practitioners the power to report potentially dangerous individuals with an expansion to the Red Flag Law. It also requires social media networks to report hateful conduct.

LI Do no infringe. Period!

Definitely need background checks and mental history checks on anyone buying or owning guns. Right now, after reading these comments and seeing how many shootings happen in America compared to ANY other country, maybe we can learn something from China’s government!

I think GovKathyHochul should NOT sign the Democrats' statewide ban on private breeders and pure breed dogs -- the bill they falsely call a 'puppy mill bill.' NY Dems have revoked our right to buy the dog of our choice by restricting private breeders!

Just take the bullets away they can keep their guns.

LI Read your responses 99% say she's wasting OurTime. VOTEHOCHULOUT

LI Yeah, this time it will reduce gun violence. 🥴 at least now if I get shot at I won’t have body protection, guess I’ll just 💀 then

They will only restrict law abiding citizens from getting them. Criminals dont care about the laws….thats what makes them criminals in the first place. Plenty of laws making drugs illegal and we know how well those work.

Why don’t you stop going easy on the criminals with illegal guns!

LI Ok. What about fixing the bail nightmare. And multiple offenses. Time to put these career criminals behind bars.

LI Take away all the guns.

LI 1200 guns confiscated in nyc from Jan-mar. Considering 99% of civilians can’t carry in the NYC, how is that possible? These laws target law abiding citizens. Bail reform lets animals out after only hours. Look at actual gun death statistics and see for yourself. This is theater.

LI “Jonny, if you don’t know how to play with your toys nicely, then we have to take your toys away” and yes one person can ruin it for the entire class. Mommy will be home soon to make you feel better ❤️🤪

LI I’m not impressed by someone who spent one year in Congress but still had an A rating from the NRA when she was there. Not impressive. She’s a hypocrite

Can't wait to vote all of them out!

LI Raising the age is unconstitutional. But Dems don’t care about US Constitution.

Its all a show and will not do anything to curb any gun violence

LI Good. Get it f***ing done.

LI It’s doing wonders in Chicago.

LI This only punishes law abiding citizens. Criminals will still have plenty. Not about safety. About control. Remember that everyone in government wanting to disarm Americans are the same folks who wanted to arm Ukrainians and also gave military grade weapons to the Taliban

LI

BK that story you’re reporting on “high end Brooklyn hotel shooting” not a hotel, get it right it’s a halfway house 4 released convicts under new bail reform. live across from the shelter &there is no security to keep the community safe or proper reporting to inform the public

LI guns don’t kill people people kill people I’m not giving up my weapons and if anyone tries to take them has to come through me first

BK Unacceptable!!! The constant infringement on our right to protect ourselves needs to stop. Criminals always find ways to get their weapons of choice.Stop disarming law abiding citizens to protect themselves.

LI Just 7 more months of Comrade Hochul!

LI here’s an idea…keep violent criminals in prison! Where’s the enforcement for that!

LI She still doesn't do anything about the criminal carrying the gun. The criminal that doesn't care about her laws So go ahead sign your law Kathy. Nothing will change. This country has become a free for all circus.

LI Washington DC has some of the strictest laws in the US but has the highest number firearm related deaths in the country. Wyoming has the most firearms anywhere in the country (almost 60% of households) and the lowest firearm deaths. Guns aren’t the problem

LI I think it’s all smoke and mirrors, And that I live in state full of morons that are willing to give up their rights God-given rights , it will not solve one single problem period

NY Governor Urged to Support Bill Protecting Vaccine PrivacyPrivacy advocates are urging New York Gov. Kathy Hochul to sign a bill that would protect sensitive information gathered from people being vaccinated against COVID-19. Advocates say the sharing of information could be misused by a raft of entities, including authorities who the New York Civil Liberties Union suggests could use that data in criminal proceedings. That possibility could be having a chilling effect in the rate of vaccinations among some groups, and hinder public health efforts against the pandemic and other health crises. The proposed law also has wider ramifications. With the recent spread of monkeypox, some health advocates worry that the sharing of information collected in administering vaccines for the disease could result in privacy violations.
