Laws don't apply to nations the same as to individuals. Countries violate international laws everyday from illegal fishing and poaching, cyber attacks and political meddling in foreign countries. The biggest violator is the US. In other words intl laws have little power.

These seizures would lack due process, are possibly illegal, threaten future investment, are possibly counterproductive (as Russia reciprocating would almost directly fund their war machine) & unnecessary (as we can fund Ukraine without stealing in instances of mistaken identity)
