Gardai in Tipperary carried out a huge motorway checkpoint on Friday as they began a weekend of road checks.
Officers set themselves up on the M7 in Nenagh where they were checking for drink and drug offences as well as licenses and insurance.A garda spokesperson said: "Tipperary Divisional Roads Policing Unit accompanied by the Dog Unit and local Gardai carrying out a structured Checkpoint at the M7, Nenagh today.
Gardai in Donegal said on social media: "This June Bank Holiday weekend, Gardaí across Donegal will conduct high visibility checkpoints and speed checks. Our focus will be the detection of key lifesaver offences which include speeding, drink/drug driving and the non-wearing of seat-belts."
