A New York appeals court has upheld Harvey Weinstein's rape and sexual assault conviction, rejecting the disgraced movie producer's arguments that the trial judge made several errors that tainted the trial

Weinstein was appealing his February 2020 conviction and 23-year prison sentence for assaulting former production assistant Mimi Haleyi and raping former aspiring actress Jessica Mann.

Juda Engelmayer, a spokesman for Weinstein, said Weinstein will appeal the decision to New York state's highest court, the Court of Appeals."We are disappointed and sad for Mr Weinstein," Mr Engelmayer said. Many view the accusations against Weinstein, which surfaced in 2017, the key spark for that movement. He made seven arguments for overturning his conviction, including that rape charges were based on insufficient evidence.
