SA Unions says the state's new Labor government is trying to rush through legislation to make it more difficult for workers to claim compensation for multiple injuries caused by the same workplace incident.

"Every worker who sustains more than one injury in the course of their employment will be affected [apart from] the very few who manage to get through in the next few months and that's highly unlikely in the way the scheme operates," she said.

"The proposal was only just introduced so it will be considered in due course. The Opposition is still working out its position on this matter," Shadow Treasurer Matt Cowdrey said.

Business SA policy and advocacy director Kendall Crowe said the High Court ruling led to an extra $500,000 cost per year for employers overall, which would eventually raise the premiums they paid above 2 per cent of wages."If this isn't fixed, the scheme will be broken," Ms Crowe said.
